My previous comment disappeared from the list so posting it again in the hope that there was some kind of mistake

The admin has already replied to it saying it will take time to resolve my issue, that was a week ago and I was hoping to hear an update on it

I exchanged $7k from USDC for a cash deposit to my UK bank account (full current account with a major bank, nothing special).
The initial deposit arrived a day after the USDC transaction was confirmed but fair enough — the amount involved could explain that.

The problem came two weeks later when my bank added a Fraud marker to my credit file, notified me that my banking facilities will be withdrawn, and retained all the remaining money left. The reason for this — the sender of the deposit disputed the transaction.

I understand that my bank could have overreacted and that the UK AML regulations give them too much power but the dispute by the sender (a partner of the exchange presumably) is real. The end result is I can't open another account until I take my bank to an ombudsman or court.

Some of the money involved went to my wife — her account is now also closed and the balance is retained.

I need to know the details of the sender/partner involved to be able to recover the missing amount and punitive damages but there is no way for me to get it without their cooperation.
