How to exchange XRP for Tether TRC-20 (USDT) stablecoins

Tether (USDT) is the leading stablecoin in the crypto market and the third most capitalized cryptocurrency after Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).

What you should know before exchanging XRP for USDT

The USDT token is available on different networks, such as Ethereum in the form of an ERC-20 token, BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20), and Tron (TRC-20). When specifying the method of exchange, it is essential not to make a mistake in the choice of network so that there are no difficulties in the future. Accordingly, if you need to exchange Ripple cryptocurrency to USDT in the Tron network, you should choose the direction Ripple XRP → Tether TRC20 USDT.

All addresses in the Tron network start with the symbol T. If you specify an address in the Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain network (starting with 0x) instead, the exchanger will not be able to send the cryptocurrency to the user's wallet, and the transaction will not take place.

Also, payments on the Ripple network have an additional parameter to identify transactions, known as Tag — some exchangers may require you to enter it to complete the transaction. If you ignore this requirement, there is a risk of losing the cryptocurrency.

The procedure of XRP to USDT exchange in the Tron network

1. Selecting an exchanger

The BestChange exchange table contains a list of all available destinations. To display the list of exchangers for a given direction, select Ripple XRP → Tether TRC20 USDT.

After that, a list of exchangers supporting exchange in this direction will appear, sorted by exchange rate (starting from the most favorable for the user).

There are icons next to each exchanger's name: if you put the cursor over them, users can get additional information about the service, for example, to find out how it works (manual, semi-automatic, or automatic processing of requests). A separate icon marks exchangers that do not fix the exchange rate during transactions.

2. Creating an exchange request

To create a request, you need to go to the exchanger's website using the link in the table — just click on the exchanger's name. Immediately after you go to the exchanger's website, an application form will be available, which you need to fill out.

In the form, as a minimum, you will need to specify:

  1. The address of the wallet in the Tron network to receive USDT tokens;
  2. Exchange amount, which can be specified both in Ripple cryptocurrency and Tether tokens;
  3. An email address will be required to receive a check after the exchange.

Some exchangers may request additional information for client identification (full name, phone number, registration address, and other data). Exchangers that require identity verification (KYC) are marked with a special icon in the BestChange table — such exchangers may suspend the transaction until the user provides the documents.

After submitting the completed form, the exchanger will accept the request and send the Ripple wallet address to send the cryptocurrency.

3. Exchanging and receiving USDT

Once the exchanger sends the Ripple wallet address, the exact amount of XRP must be sent to it within the specified time. Exchangers usually allocate up to 30 minutes for this. If the specified time limit is not met, the exchanger can cancel the request or recalculate the amount due to changes in the exchange rate.

Note that the exchanger will accept the payment only when the specified number of transaction confirmations in the Ripple network is reached. Each exchanger sets the required number of confirmations for a transaction independently, but it is generally within 10.

One more thing to pay special attention to: some exchangers may require you to specify the Tag in an additional field in your wallet when sending a Ripple payment.

Many exchangers use the same addresses to accept cryptocurrency, which receives hundreds of transactions, making it challenging to identify a specific payment. Therefore, the exchanger will not accept the payment if you enter the wrong tag or send a transaction without it. In this case, you must contact the support service and manually conduct the transaction.

The speed of exchange depends not only on the specific exchanger and the type of work it does but also on the workload of the blockchain network. The hash provided in the Tronscan browser allows you to track the status of a transaction after the exchanger sends it.

If the exchanger has provided the hash (or TX ID), but the transaction cannot be found in the browser, you should contact the exchanger's support team to resolve the situation. After completing the transaction, you can leave a review about the exchanger on the BestChange website to share helpful information with other users.
