How BestChange Assesses the AML Transparency of Exchange Services

We aim to make choosing an exchange service more predictable and transparent for users. To support this, BestChange uses a color-coded AML tag system. These tags show how openly and consistently an exchange service handles AML checks, and how user-friendly its practice is in such situations.

An AML tag reflects BestChange's assessment of an exchange service's AML practice based on the administration's review: how the service handles AML cases, how transparent its terms are, whether a preliminary check is available before funds are sent, and how high the risks are of unjustified delays, lengthy reviews, or receiving high-risk assets.

Important: the AML tag is provided for informational purposes only and reflects the service assessment at the time of review by the BestChange administration. It does not guarantee that an AML check will never be required. To further reduce the risk of delays, we recommend checking a crypto address for AML risks before sending funds.

How to read the tags

🟢 Green — high AML transparency

The service has a confirmed positive AML track record.

What this means for the user:

  • the service handles AML checks transparently, without excessive requirements, and within a reasonable timeframe;
  • the risk of unjustified checks and delays is minimal;
  • a preliminary AML check before sending funds is available;
  • there are no confirmed cases of sending high-risk assets to clients;
  • if an AML-related case arises, the service generally acts transparently and within a reasonable timeframe.

🟡 Yellow — medium AML transparency

The service's AML practices are still being evaluated, or there is not yet enough data to assign a high AML transparency rating, but no critical issues have been identified.

What this may mean:

  • the service was recently added to the platform and its AML track record is still being established;
  • some criteria for high AML transparency have not yet been confirmed;
  • additional checks or delays during the exchange may occur;
  • a preliminary AML check before sending funds may not yet be implemented;
  • there are no confirmed cases of sending high-risk assets to clients;
  • the service's AML practice is not yet ideal or is still under evaluation.

🔴 Red — low AML transparency

Significant user risks have been identified in connection with the service's AML practices, or the service does not meet key AML transparency criteria.

What this means for the user:

  • there is a higher risk of lengthy checks and delays;
  • non-transparent handling of AML-related cases may occur;
  • confirmed cases of sending high-risk assets to clients may be identified;
  • the service may fail to comply with key AML transparency requirements or may not resolve previously identified issues.

When using services with this tag, we recommend exercising caution.

How the assessment is made

When assigning an AML tag, BestChange takes into account factors including:

  • the service's AML case history;
  • the presence or absence of critical or systemic issues;
  • the quality and proportionality of AML checks;
  • the transparency of terms for users;
  • the availability of a preliminary AML check before funds are sent;
  • the risk of users receiving high-risk assets;
  • the service's willingness to correct identified issues.

An AML tag may be revised as new practice is accumulated, the service's processes change, or new confirmed information becomes available.
