PrivatBank is the most popular bank in Ukraine. Its reliability is backed by more than three decades of work. It was one of the first banks founded after Ukraine gained its independence. Operating since 1992, it is the largest in the country and is directly controlled by the state.
Why is PrivatBank reliable?
As of 2023, PrivatBank's equity capital is 69.5 billion hryvnias. In the rating of Ukrainian banks, it stands in first place. More than a third of all deposits of the population are in it. About half of the cards used by Ukrainians for non-cash payments are also issued by it.
Initially, PrivatBank was a private bank, but in late 2016, the Ukrainian government decided to nationalize it. The reason for this was the inefficient work of the former owners and top managers, which began to threaten the sustainability of the financial position. Privat 24 is an Internet service fully controlled by PrivatBank. You can use it to:

- transfer money to cards of other banks;
- make non-cash payments;
- open accounts without visiting a bank office.
- receive all necessary information by interacting in real-time with the support service.
This is not a complete list of opportunities available to Privat 24 customers. You can use all of them via:

How to open a Privat24 account in dollars (USD)?
Opening an account is possible both at a PrivatBank branch and online via the Privat 24 service. There is no difference in the actual result between these two methods. In both cases, it will be a full-fledged dollar account with PrivatBank. The only difference is that a plastic card is issued in the office, while you can issue a card online without a physical carrier. It is called virtual, but it has all the same features as the plastic one.
Regardless of the regular dollar card opening method, registration and maintenance will be free. In addition to the usual one, there is a "Universal Gold" card. Its opening is free, but you must pay 20 hryvnias monthly for service.
The main differences:
- Replenishment of a regular USD card is possible only with a 0.5% commission;
- No commission is charged when topping up the USD account on the "Universal Gold" card.
Besides, the "Universal Gold" card can be ordered with a photo or other unique image and signature. However, in this case, you will have to pay for its issue; to receive it, you will have to come to the branch.
In addition to Ukraine, PrivatBank terminals are available in Latvia, Italy, Georgia and Portugal. There, you can withdraw money without commission. You will be charged a 2% commission if you withdraw dollars in other ATMs.
By the way, there is no particular need to withdraw cash abroad, as in any country of the world, you can pay for the purchase by cashless method — there will be an automatic conversion. In other words, the account will be debited with the amount of dollars, which at the current exchange rate corresponds to the purchase amount in the national currency of the country where you are.
