How to exchange Cardano (ADA) to Bitcoin (BTC)

Features of Cardano to Bitcoin exchange

If everything is evident with the Cardano cryptocurrency (only one Cardano exchange option and a single address format), then everything is different with Bitcoin. On the BestChange aggregator website, there are four exchange destinations:

The choice of network will depend on the goals and needs of the individual user:

  • If one needs to safely store the Bitcoin cryptocurrency in their wallet, the original network is preferred;
  • If the asset will be used for DeFi market transactions, then Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain blockchains will be suitable;
  • Lightning Network users can make instant and almost free transactions. This option is best suited for payment for goods and services.

Instructions on how to exchange Cardano for Bitcoin

First, the user must choose the exchange direction depending on the network where he needs to get bitcoins. All available directions are in the exchange table located on the BestChange website. To exchange ADA cryptocurrency for BTC, the Cardano row should be selected in the left column of this table, and one of the presented ways of getting Bitcoin should be chosen in the right column.

When the necessary direction is selected, a list of all currently available exchangers that allow you to convert ADA cryptocurrency to BTC will appear on the same page.

Choosing an exchanger

The table with exchangers has all the necessary information, including exchange limits, exchange rate, reserves, and the features of a particular exchange, marked with special icons located next to the name of each service.

If the exchanger fits the user's criteria, you should click on its name to go to the service's website and create a request to exchange ADA to BTC.

Creating a request

To create a request on the exchanger's website, the user must fill out a simple form specifying the cryptocurrency wallet address where the user will receive BTC cryptocurrency, as well as the email address and other information required by the exchanger.

If the original Bitcoin blockchain was chosen for the exchange, you should consider that it has 4 compatible main address formats. In other words, any of the Bitcoin addresses in the wallet can be used to receive bitcoins, and the user will accept the cryptocurrency.

The user can encounter the following BTC address formats in the crypto wallet:

  • P2PKH — obsolete or Legacy addresses are used less frequently because they are the least favorable for transactions; that is, they use the standard amount of commissions. Legacy addresses start with the number "1": 1GJeAG41pyUnsUMDwid1cvXKgyJBUgeeRC;
  • P2SH is a format called Script or SegWit Pay 2 Witness Public Key Hash (P2SH-P2WPKH). This Bitcoin address format is newer and more commonly used compared to Legacy. It starts with the number "3", for example: 3PzRVV5Hm6Wdmrqo5kkqpWHFFfvoRkNQSUB;
  • P2WPKH or SegWit addresses (also often called Native SegWit) are an even newer format that halves fees and increases transaction speeds compared to Legacy. These addresses start with the characters "bc1q", for example: bc1q7962lpa8u5gjsf63t63t9gspw053gy0wngrd9tlwr;
  • P2TR or Taproot is the newest address format. Taproot addresses are similar to Native SegWit, except they start with "bc1p" instead of "bc1q"." For example, bc1pwafxyjvjs5wm4raj6ggnxlc5qauw65u00u9r9a8tk6z8q2u54cpsg5ghqz.

It is worth noting that some exchangers may not support Taproot addresses. In this case, the service will inform the user that they must enter the correct address. Therefore, it is preferable to use BTC addresses starting with "3" or "bc1q," as these formats are the most popular, and all exchangers should support them.

After filling out the application form, one must accept the terms and conditions of the user agreement and KYC/AML policy.

After the user submits the completed form, the exchanger responds by sending a wallet address to which the exact amount of ADA cryptocurrency specified in the application form must be transferred.

Receipt of cryptocurrency to the wallet

After receiving the cryptocurrency, the exchanger will send the bitcoins to the BTC wallet address specified by the user. Transactions can be confirmed in the Bitcoin network for a few minutes to a few hours.

To make sure that the exchanger has sent the funds or simply to check the current status of the transaction, you need to use the transaction hash provided by the exchanger and search for the transfer in one of the blockchain browsers provided:

  • Blockchair;
  • Mempool.space;
  • BTC.com;
  • OKLink and others.
